Our customer in Ystalyfera, Swansea Valley needed off road parking for one car but only had a 1 metre wide path leading up to the house.

The entrance was widened by disk cutting the perimeter wall and excavating and clearing the existing garden soil and chippings to a depth of 300mm. A 150mm layer of stone to dust was applied, levelled and compacted then infilling and compacting any indentations to ensure a level base running away from the house.

Red brick paviors were installed and cemented in as decorative edging before laying a 50mm thick base coat before a 30mm top wearing coat with 6mm fine stone finish was applied to a total thickness of approximately 80mm.

The pavement was also resurface at a gradient away from the house to prevent flooding as had happened on previous occasions.

Our customer in Herbert Way, Lonlas, Swansea wanted to have a low maintenance tarmac driveway with ample room for parking which was both practical and attractive.

The area was widened and levelled in preparation for the installation of 250 square metres of tarmac driveway. 60 tonnes of hard stone were supplied and levelled before compacting with all depressions infilled with a granular sub base, 20mm down to dust. The area was then rolled with a road roller with additional granular sub base added where needed.

The first base layer, with the larger grade of aggregate was then applied and spread out and levelled by hand before the roller further compacted the base layer, only stopping when it no longer left marks on the base layer surface.

The top coat, or the wearing coat was then applied. The top coat, consists of a smaller grain of aggregate which produces a finer, more attractive and hard wearing surface. The layers were applied to a total thickness of approximately 80mm.

Tarmac Road Repair Specialists

Tudor Davies and Sons Ltd were commissioned by Innogy Renewables and Swansea City Council to repair damaged road surface near Felindre, Swansea. The damage was caused by oversized trucks transporting huge components for the Mynydd y Gwair windfarm – which is capable of producing electricity energy to power about 22,600 homes.

Approximately 30m of road surface was dug out to a depth of 150mm. A 110mm deep base coat of 20mm stone tarmac was applied, rolled with full compaction before a 40mm depth of 10mm hard stone finish was applied, double drum rolled to full compaction. The edge joints were then sealed into the existing tarmac with bitumen.

Driveway Resurfacing Specialists Swansea

We were approached by an owner who’s driveway was in very poor condition and in dire need of our driveway resurfacing services.

Site work was conducted on the damaged tarmac driveway to the necessary areas to a depth of 250mm below the finished level of the new drive. Depressions were infilled with a granular sub base, 20mm down to dust. After compacting to the correct levels the area was resurfaced with 6mm SMA 6mm BS EN 13108-1 Tarmacadam.
